IMMUNOSTEP was founded in 2001 following the detection of clear deficiencies in the field of Flow Cytometry. To establish the company, it was necessary to gain the commitment of three social agents: the promotional partners; SODICAL as a provider of risk capital, and the University of Salamanca. Fruit of this tripartite partnership was IMMUNOSTEP, which is housed on one of the floors of the Institute for Cancer Research, adjoint to the University of Salamanca.

As of that year, IMMUNOSTEP has devoted itself full-time to engaging the collaboration and support of research agencies worldwide. Among such agencies, outstanding are la Fundación Clinic per la Recerca Biomédica (whose collaboration was ratified with the signing of a contract in April 2002); the University of Washington (with which an agreement was signed in September 2002); the CIB-CSIC, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (with which an agreement was signed concerning the provision of hybridomas in January 2002), and other Research Centres of excellence.

In 2002, IMMUNOSTEP was awarded the Mecenas (Sponsor's) prize by the University of Salamanca, within the category of "Innovations 2001".

In 2003, IMMUNOSTEP was awarded the European Prize for Enterprising Spirit in Castilla y León, in the "Business capital" class.

In 2000, IMMUNOSTEP gained the ISO 9000 standard, and it achieved the 13483:2003 classification in 2005.
